Our special Group Rate ($199/night +tax) is also available three days before and after the conference days, subject to availability.

Getting There ~

Traveling to Baltimore by air:

While there are many airports in the Baltimore region, the closest is the Baltimore/Washington International airport (BWI) at only 10 miles away from the conference hotel. There is no airport shuttle offered by the hotel so you will have to arrange for your ground transport once you arrive.

Please review the hotel's location & transportation website for more details. It may be helpful to know that our hotel is attached to both the Convention Center and Camden Yards baseball stadium.

  

Ground transportation: 

Our conference hotel is a 20 minute drive from BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport or a short ride using the Light Rail train system. Or if you are coming in via regional train, the hotel is less than 2 miles from Baltimore's Penn Station, which is within 10 minutes by taxi or ride share services. With options ranging from public transportation to app-based ride services, you can find a mode of transportation to meet your travel needs. Explore the choices BWI Marshall Airport has itemized to figure out which option is best for you.

• Maryland Light Rail: Approximately $2 and a 26 minute ride. The northbound Hunt Valley outbound Light Rail operates every 30 minutes from BWI and Pratt Street Light Rail Stop

Getting around the City is made easy by the Charm City Circulator. The Circulator is Baltimore's free public transportation shuttle service connecting riders to attractions, historic sites, parking and businesses through the downtown area. During the week they stop circulating at 8pm ~ something to consider if you are exploring the area at night.

Find out if you need a visa to travel to the US

The US Department of State website has a Visa Wizard in which you can explore if you will require a visa to attend the conference. The type of visa needed to attend a professional conference classifies under Business (B1).

Letters of invitation  ~

Being a global community of scientists, we understand that many of you might need letters of invitation in order to gain visa approval to travel to the US for SON2026. Attendees are encouraged to apply for a visa as soon as you are confident you will attend. Some consulates may have backlogs in scheduling visa interviews, so applicants should contact the consulate directly to determine wait times. All applicants must be able to qualify for a visa on their own merits. SON cannot intervene with embassies in other countries on behalf of any meeting participants. 

Customized visa invitation letters can be issued to confirmed registrants— those who have paid the meeting registration fees, have submitted an abstract, or are otherwise presenting. If you would like to receive a visa invitation letter, please complete the invitation letter request form.
