The 2023 Annual Meeting of the Society of Nematologists

Columbus, Ohio

Have you noticed a lot of new faces in nematology? Need to find a new collaborator for a project?

University, Federal and Industry organizations have hired almost 25 new permanent nematologists over the past 5 years. The plenary session (Monday July 10, 9 AM) at the upcoming 62nd Annual Meeting of the Society of Nematologists in Columbus, OH will highlight these nematologists. Plan to attend and learn more about these scientists and their visions for research in nematology.

WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US!

Please join us July 9 to 14, 2023 for the 62nd Annual Conference of the Society of Nematologists.

The SON 2023 meeting will be held in the Union Hall at The Ohio State University. The schedule provides the opportunity for professional development, networking, and learning about current news in the field of nematology, as well as additional time to relax and explore Columbus. Registration with the early-bird discount is open now until May 1, 2023.

Sunday, July 9th marks the first day of the annual conference. Even with a busy first day of traveling, there will be plenty of resources and activities to assist with settling into Columbus and discovering Ohio State’s campus. After getting settled with lodging, the afternoon will be time to get checked in to the conference at the Ohio Union – this campus building will be the hub for most activity throughout the week.

Upon check in, guests will receive a welcome bag with an assortment of information materials and branded event paraphernalia. In the mix of goodies, a scavenger hunt will be given to provide a self-paced tour of Ohio State’s campus. This activity supplies map which guides to Thompson Library, North Campus, and Chadwick Arboretum, to name a few! Additionally, there will be the opportunity to learn about the rich history and traditions of this land-grant university. At each location, there will be a sign with more information to tell a story about the significance of the spot. In this scavenger hunt, participants will be fully immersed in the geography of Ohio State and be well-informed of much of its history. Everyone should feel welcomed as part of the Buckeye family!

As a bonus to participate in the scavenger hunt, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream will be provided at one of the many stops on the map. Jeni’s was founded in 2002 in Columbus, OH, and has become one of the most popular treats nationwide. After traveling for hours to get to #SON2023 in Columbus, the most suitable reward would be a delicious treat from Jeni’s!

While Ohio State is a special place to be all day, the surrounding Columbus area has its own charm that is sure to draw guests in. Ohio State is near the Short North Arts District, only about 1.5 miles apart. The Graduate Hotel is in the Short North, one of the main lodging destinations for this conference. The Short North provides an immersive and vibrant cultural experience, bringing Columbus to life. Many restaurants, bars, coffee shops, gift shops, specialty stores, and more serve as popular attractions for visitors to get a real taste of Columbus.

To end the first day of the conference, a welcome reception will be held in the Ohio Union to start the itinerary of activities for the rest of the conference. Throughout the week, there will be more time for socialization and celebration through all that Columbus has to offer. Not only will there be time to enjoy the Short North and Ohio State, but also an opportunity to travel as a group to another special part of Ohio. Hocking Hills is the destination for nature-lovers. After registering for the conference, guests can decide to add this excursion to their itinerary. Visiting Hocking Hills will be a great time to enjoy summer scenery in Ohio and go for a hike around the area. To wrap up the Hocking Hills visit, attendees will get to enjoy a fun evening at a local venue for drinks, food, and music.

The Annual Conference for the Society of Nematologists will be memorable! Don’t miss this opportunity for networking, gaining industry knowledge, and professional development. Register for this unique experience today.
